About this Vendor
I always wanted to have artistic ability, trouble was I couldn’t draw a straight line with a ruler ! I was always fascinated… with stained glass. My wife & I went to the Biltmore House in Asheville, NC and I saw the windows done by Tiffany himself. I told my Debbie that’s something I always wished I could do….that was 10 years ago.
In 2003 Debbie gave me a stained glass starter kit for Christmas. It included tools, copper foil, glass cutter, grinder and assortment of glass, everything I needed to get started. I tried a simple project on my own, after I finished it, I looked at it I thought hum……….I better take a class.
I found a local studio that taught stained glass classes to learn the art of Tiffany style foiled stained glass. We started small projects, and to finish the class I had to design and complete a large project. I choose a Hawaiian Sunset, and much to my surprise…someone came into the studio and wanted to buy it ! The owner told them it wasn’t for sale that is was one of her students. ( I still have it !)
Over the years, I have designed and built many different designs from fish to flowers, candle holders to business card holders, butterflies, panels, crosses and flip flops.
I made a business card holder for my brother Ronnie. He was a MacIntosh nut. I designed one that had an apple integrated into it and he loved it. Almost every time we talked he would mention that card holder, and how I should be selling these. I never really thought about being a real artist and doing shows. I’ll blame it on Ronnie and my wife hearing him repeatedly talk about that card holder. Debbie decided to contact local studios and thanks to Linda at Sunflower Studio & Gallery I’ll get to share my passion with many others. I’ve done various commissions from sun catchers to side lite panels for front doors.
